For eighteen years Dr. Krubsack has taught at Orono High School, where he is the director of instrumental music.  He is responsible for establishing a partnership between the Orono Schools and the Minnesota Orchestra, bringing musicians to the schools and taking students to Orchestra Hall each year.  In March 2008 his bands were showcased in the inaugural High School Guest Ensemble Concert at the University of Minnesota in Ted Mann Concert Hall.  Occasionally during the past 15 years he taught music classes at St. Cloud State University, Augsburg College, Bethel College and the University of Minnesota.  Don has also had a steady stream of student teachers from several universities and colleges study with him in his classroom.  Don was a 2007 Minnesota Teacher of the Year finalist.

Dr. Krubsack earned his B.A. in Music Education from St. Olaf College, M.M. in Conducting and Music Education from Northwestern University, and Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Minnesota.  He is an active guest conductor and clinician for festivals in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  He has served on the board of directors for the Minnesota Music Educators Association and Minnesota Band Directors Association.  He is currently the State Honor Band Event Chair for MBDA.

In addition to his activities in the field of education, Dr. Krubsack is active as a composer and professional performer.  He has composed many sacred works for choir and instruments and has arranged five works for his high school bands.  As a vocalist he has sung with Minnesota's elite Rose Ensemble and is in demand as a soloist for various church functions.  As a trombonist Dr. Krubsack has been a member of Minnesota's Lake Wobegon Brass Band and plays in a brass ensemble, performing for various ceremonial occasions in the Twin Cities.

On October 24, 2008 under the direction of Dr. Krubsack the Orono High School Wind Ensemble was invited to perform at Orchestra Hall in concert before the Minnesota Orchestra. The Wind Ensemble has also been accepted to perform at the 2009 Minnesota Music Educators Convention in Minneapolis.
